The Rise Of Non-Surgical Treatments

With a broad number of technological advances hitting the beauty and cosmetic industry, it is now easier than ever before for patients to obtain the look that they want, without going under the knife. Since 2015, the UK industry saw a 40% drop in regular cosmetic procedures – but saw 11,674,754 non-surgical procedures being performed in the UK in 2016 alone. Non-surgical treatments are looking to change the face of the industry, and here, we’re taking a closer look at how.

What Non-Surgical Treatments Are Available?

One of the biggest factors behind the rise in non-surgical treatments is the extensive number of options that are available on the market. From having a facial Richmond to Botox and laser hair removal, there are a great number of options.  Some of the non-surgical treatments available include:

  • Injectables
  • Microneedling
  • Laser Treatments
  • Facials & Peels
  • Treatments For Acne
  • Light Treatments
  • Thermotherapy
  • Ultrasound Treatments
  • Stretch Mark Removal
  • Cellulite Treatments
  • Laser Hair Removal
  • Non-Surgical Butt Lift
  • Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
  • Vibrosculpt

The Stats

We already mentioned that non-surgical procedure numbers hit 11,674,754, but when you compare that to the 30,750 surgical procedures which were performed in the UK in 2016, you can see just how the trends are definitely beginning to shift towards non-surgical treatments. Further to this, there has been a 41% rise in women aged between 19 and 34 opting for Botox showing just how the demand is changing.

The Benefits Of Non-Surgical Treatments

There are a huge number of benefits for patients who opt for non-surgical treatments as opposed to traditional cosmetic procedures. The whole concept of non-surgical treatments is that they are non- or minimally-invasive, leading to minimal downtime. For many patients, this means that they can have their procedure and return to work the next day – or in some cases, the very same day! Further to this, non-surgical treatments are often a much cheaper option than what a surgical treatment can be, and with no general anaesthetic required, risk is minimised entirely. With all of these benefits in mind, it’s easy to see why non-surgical treatments are rising drastically in popularity when compared to traditional procedures.

How To Choose Between A Surgical & Non-Surgical Procedure

Determining whether or not you should opt for a surgical or non-surgical procedure should be entirely dependent on the area that you are looking to have treated and the results that you are looking to achieve. A surgical procedure is likely to give you results in one session, but the time that it takes to heal can cause a number of issues for many patients. With a non-surgical procedure, you may require a series of sessions, but this is still likely to be a less expensive option than a surgical procedure. The sessions may also be enjoyable, as the pain of a minimally-invasive procedure is often minimal. The best way to determine which is the right choice for you is to discuss your options with a consultant at your chosen clinic. They may be able to suggest a series of treatments which you didn’t know existed!
